The technical note provides guidance over the coordination and control settings of the voltage regulators installed at Grid Exit Points, zone substations and distribution feeders. There are many different approaches and options towards setting voltage regulating equipment. This technical note describes some of the shared experiences with setting voltage regulation equipment and provides guidance for Engineers.

The technical note does not cover voltage regulation of the transmission grid, control of embedded or backup generators, the use of capacitors for power factor control, Low Voltage system voltage regulation (e.g. tap changing distribution transformers) or STATCOMS.
